A Valencia family itinerary works best when it balances the city and the coast — and this 3-night plan does exactly that. From the ancient streets of the Old Town to the 9km of traffic-free cycling through Jardín del Turia, from the City of Arts and Sciences to a full day on Malvarrosa Beach with a proper paella lunch, every day is designed to keep both adults and children engaged without exhausting anyone.

Valencia is one of the most underrated family destinations in Europe. It's flat, bikeable, safe, and genuinely interesting at every age level. The metro connects the airport to the city centre in 25 minutes, the beach is 15 minutes by tram, and the food — from horchata to authentic Valencian paella — is reason enough to visit. This itinerary takes care of the logistics so you can focus on the experience.

Best time to visit Valencia with family

The best time to visit Valencia with family is April to June or September to October. Spring brings comfortable temperatures, low humidity, and the city in full bloom — ideal for cycling the Turia park and exploring the Old Town on foot. September is equally good, with warm sea temperatures extending the beach season without the summer heat. July and August work well for beach-focused trips but temperatures regularly exceed 35°C — plan outdoor activities for mornings and evenings. If visiting in March, check the dates of Las Fallas — one of the most spectacular festivals in Spain, but the city transforms completely and accommodation books out months ahead.

Where to stay in Valencia with family

For a Valencia family itinerary, the best base is the area around Metro Colón — central enough to walk to the Old Town, well-connected to the beach by tram, and within easy reach of the Turia park entrance. Avoid the beach zone as a base: it's convenient for Day 3, but isolated from the city's best neighbourhoods for the rest of the trip. The Eixample district around Colón offers good family hotels, excellent restaurants, and a relaxed residential feel that makes evenings easy with children.
